The 75th birthday of Alexander
Hodgson, of West Fallowfield, was celebrated by his family and
friends on the twenty-third.

West, Mr. A.J. Hodgson to Miss Jessie C. Stryke, all of Philadelphia

A quiet wedding took place on the
evening of October 28th at the residence of the Rev. Raymond West,
pastor of Lehigh Avenue Baptist Church, of Philadelphia. Mr.
A.J. Hodgson and Miss Jessie C. Stryke were united in the bonds
of matrimony by Mr. West, who is the bride's pastor. A few near
relatives were present to witness the ceremony and wish the young
couple much happiness as they commence life's journey together.
Mr. Hodgson is a son of Mr. S.I. Hodgson, of Highland. He
has been a resident of Philadelphia for some three years past and
is at present keeper in the Orianna Mills, a large manufacturing
establishment.

has sold to George Bard, of Lancaster county, 130 acres at $140
per acre. This part includes the farm house and barn, but excludes
the mill and all other buildings and of balance tract containing
about 70 acres.

Alexander Hodgson, of West
Fallowfield, Chester County, has purchased a farm of 218 ½
acres, at $47 per acre about 2 ½ miles north of Richmond,
Virginia. Land and buildings good. Mr. Hodgson intends to remove
there in the spring.

Alexander Hodgson's 84th birthday
was celebrated pleasantly Saturday by friends and neighbor's callings
at his home near Cochranville. He was born January 23, 1814 in New
London township on the farm now owned by his nephew T.H. Hodgson.
IN 1842 he moved into West Fallowfield township and purchased the
grist mill, which had been built by a son of Stephen Girard's sister.
Mr. Hodgson erected a saw mill on the property. In 1866 he ground
corn meal and shipped it to Ireland during the famine. He ran the
mill day and night and made two barrels of meal every hour through
the winter to April. His health is good and he enjoys calls from
old friends

daughter of Samuel Irwin, Esq. All of New London

Alexander Hodgson, a Mr. Cloud, and
another citizen of West Fallowfield township, shipped at Oxford
for Virginia, on Tuesday. They go to the farm recently purchased
by Mr. Hodgson, near Richmond. Four or five citizens of Bart township,
Lancaster county, also emigrated South, taking the cars at Oxford.
